Getting Kids Started in Archery
One question we get asked a lot is, “what age should I start my kids in archery?”
We started our sons out probably a lot younger than most.
Our oldest son started at 2-1/2 years old with a cheap bow from K-Mart. Our younger son started with the same bow at 18 months old. Granted, our kids had seen us do archery from the time they were born, so they watched and learned.
We wanted to be sure our younger son, since he was so much younger, could stand on his own and comprehend what we were telling him to do.
If your kids aren’t around archery a lot, then you probably will want to wait to have them start learning to shoot a bow until you are sure they are ready to learn to focus!
Only you know your children. A good average age for generally starting kids in archery is between 5-9 years old, but yours may be ready younger or may need to wait a little longer.
We have equipment for all the way down to 2 years old though, so when you feel your kids are ready to concentrate and learn patience and determination, they are ready to give archery a try!!
After teaching our boys how to shoot bows and arrows, we decided to start an organization to teach anyone who wanted to learn archery! Over the last decade we have taught a lot of kids and adults this awesome sport and we would love to teach you and your kids too when you are ready!
We are Olympic certified archery coaches… and not only do we love to shoot bows and arrows as a family, but we would love to teach archery to you and your family too!
Contact us when you are ready to get started in archery lessons!
